Our History
Tavares Concrete Company, Inc. (TCCI) was formed in April of 1982 by Armando J. Tavares.
With a few good men and some long hard days, TCCI was able to pour curbs and sidewalks for builders in the DC Metro Area. Quality work and dedication to service brought slow, steady growth to our company.
We have honed our craft over the 40+ years we’ve been in business. We’ve taken time to master one aspect of concrete production before moving onto another service. We’ve taken our time and let growth come naturally as we’ve built our expertise and our fleet of top-quality equipment. We’ve scaled up our operation over time, and it shows in the depth of expertise and the quality of our concrete products.
40+ Years of Experience
First Slipforming Offerings
In the early 1990’s TCCI began offering slipforming, with our first curb being generated with a used GOMACO slipform curb machine. Our quality of service led to word-of-mouth advertising by our clients and construction partners. Soon, TCCI was slipforming median barriers and bridge parapets in addition to our traditional concrete offerings.
Growing Expertise
By the mid 1990’s TCCI further enhanced our offerings by performing site and road construction. We began with a limited service of turn land construction. Again, customers shared our services with their peers and gave testimonials about our work, leading to further growth.
An Industry Leader
TCCI has completed projects as a General Contractor on interstates, major secondary roads, parking lots, parks and major sites, largely for the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) but also with smaller contractors.
